Most routers have firewalls built into them and almost all computers do, so I wouldn't worry about the likelihood of an attack on your network. These ports are also only open when the game/server is running on your network, this does not grant an open door for hackers 100% of the time nor is it truly and open door. Anything over 1024 up to 65536 isn't assigned to a system service and can be considered safe/safer to use.
For example, 445 is Windows File Sharing, 80 is web servers, 25 is email.
These are system ports and are likely to be what a cracker (hacker) will use to break into your computer. The general rule is do not port-forward anything below the number 1024. Security Info: A lot of people question whether or not this will make your computer/network more susceptible to an attack by a hacker or simply someone wishing to do you harm. Here is a list I could find, any others you might be looking for that I miss can be found with a quick Google search. Important: Each game usually will have a different port that must be opened for the server to run correctly.
Using a techview wireless ip camera and i know to connect with ethernet first and put in gateway wireless name and key- i have that much done as well as creating an app called funnily enough "ipcam" and now i am on the manual import of ports and don't FRIGGING know what ports!? I do know udp or whatever its called keeps failing.Congratulations! At this point in time your server should be able to have your friends connect to it, simply give them your IP (can be found here: / ).
I just want to know how to locate range of ports please someone. My ip camera when I had it working was always IP:8080 and as long as every time the modem had to be turned off, which didn't happen often, I changed the IP to my computer's current non static IP then my webcam on my website worked fine. While I hung on every word in your video waiting for the all important selection of port range, you just skimmed over it and acted like I should know what ports I need to input.where do I find such information!? You see last time i set up a wireless IP camera I did have to mess around in the gateway but I managed to do it but now they've changed the way they do things and I can't get it. Thanks for that amusing imformative video on port forwarding, it's too bad I'm too frustrated with port forwarding to appreciate it. :connection bind application CONE(UDP) port 27900-27901 :connection bind application CONE(UDP) port 16000

Once logged into the telnet session: copy the below and paste it into the telnet window and hit enter. Login with user = admin & password = (blank) If you are comfortable with making a telnet session to the TG587, then you could try the following to address the MW3 issue:Ġ2. Trying to portfoward for games such as Terraria, Minecraft, Neverwinter Knights ect.ĮDIT: Once again tried to Portfoward and did everything perfectly but when checking the port in various port checking tools it failed. I just want to find out how to manually open specific ports. I've tried every guide on the internet including the 'Open NAT Type' guide, which worked with games such as MW3. For the last 3 months I've been on and off trying to figure out how to correctly Port Foward this router.
